Our Children Occasionally Have Bad Days

Our Children Occasionally Have Bad Days

Today, someone needs this reminder—maybe it’s you.

Our children will have off days.

There will be moments when they feel sad, tired, frustrated, moody, or just plain off—even when we’ve done everything “right.”

Sound familiar? That’s because we, as adults, have those days too. Days where everything feels a little too loud, too fast, or too much.

This is part of being human. And our kids? They’re humans too.

Their moods will rise and fall. Their behavior may not always be sunshine and smiles. But none of this is a reflection of your parenting or their worth.

It’s time we normalize the full spectrum of emotions in childhood. Tears, grumpiness, joy, and calm—all of it is part of growing up and learning to regulate big feelings.

Our goal isn’t to raise children who are always pleasant or obedient.

The goal is to raise real people—humans who feel loved, safe, and accepted even when they’re not at their best.

So if today is a tough day, take a breath. It’s just one of many. You're doing better than you think.
